How We Choose

How we choose what to recommend

  1. Start from the traveler's question. What is genuinely worth taking home from this city — not what is most advertised.
  2. State the fit. Every recommendation says who it suits and who should skip it.
  3. Give a way to buy well. Materials, sizes, authenticity checks, and what to look at in the shop.
  4. Name a real place. A shop, market, or official channel you can actually find, with a Chinese address you can show a taxi driver.
  5. Show your work. Every fact that matters — prices, hours, tax-refund eligibility, policy rules — carries a source and a verification date.

What we will not do

  • Invent savings claims ("50% cheaper!") without a verifiable comparison.
  • Present a sponsored placement as an editorial pick.
  • Publish a price, address, or policy we have not checked.
